The Napier Art Deco Festival is a celebration of the city's rich Art Deco heritage, drawing visitors from across the globe to experience vibrant performances, vintage cars, high tea, and dazzling 1930s fashion. For the 2024 festival campaign, I was commissioned to capture photographs that embodied the essence of the event and its tagline, How Do You Deco?.

As a Hawke’s Bay commercial photographer, my goal was to create imagery that showcased the variety and creativity the festival inspires. We photographed individuals styled in a range of Art Deco genres and themes, presenting characters that highlighted both authenticity and fun. To add visual impact, we used bold, colourful backdrops that contrasted beautifully with the vintage-inspired attire.

These images were featured prominently in the festival's advertising campaign, encouraging audiences to participate and immerse themselves in the event's unique atmosphere. The festival truly transforms Napier into a vibrant hub of art, music, dance, and culture, making it a delight to visually represent.
